You don't need to be technical. If you have ever bought a Kindle book from Amazon, you already have everything you need. It takes about two minutes, and you only do it once.
First, get the book
The ebook is a free thank-you for subscribers to the weekly email. If you've subscribed, the download button is on your welcome page. Click or tap it and the book (a file called From-Tired-to-Retired.epub) is saved to your computer, phone or tablet.
Not subscribed yet? Use the sign-up box at the bottom of this page. After you confirm your email, you'll be taken straight to the download.
The easiest way: using a computer
- Download the book from your welcome page. It usually lands in your Downloads folder.
- Go to amazon.co.uk/sendtokindle and sign in with the same Amazon account you use to buy Kindle books.
- Drag the book onto the page, or click the button to choose it from your Downloads folder.
- Press Send. That's it.
Within a few minutes the book appears in your Kindle library, next to the books you've bought. Make sure your Kindle is switched on and connected to Wi-Fi so it can collect it.
Using a phone or tablet
You'll need Amazon's free Kindle app on the phone or tablet (from the App Store or Google Play). You don't have to read the book on the phone: once it's sent, it appears on your Kindle too.
- Tap the download button on your welcome page.
- Open the downloaded file. On an iPhone or iPad, tap the small arrow at the top or bottom of the Safari window, then tap the book. On Android, open the Downloads or Files app.
- Tap Share (on Android you may need to press and hold the file first).
- Choose Kindle. If you can't see it, swipe along the row of apps or tap More. Then tap Send.
Got an iPhone or iPad and happy to read on it? Tapping the book usually opens it straight in Apple Books, with no Amazon step at all.
By email
Every Kindle has its own email address. Anything you email to it appears on the Kindle.
- Find your Kindle's email address. On Amazon, go to Account & Lists, then Content Library (or Manage Your Content and Devices), then Devices, and choose your Kindle. The address ends in @kindle.com.
- Write a new email to that address, attach the book, and send it. You can leave the subject and message blank.
Important: send it from the email address you use for Amazon. Amazon only accepts emails from addresses it knows, which is the usual reason this method doesn't work. To use a different address, add it under Preferences, Personal Document Settings, Approved Personal Document E-mail List.
Finding the book on your Kindle
Go to your Library. The book is listed with the others, under From Tired to Retired. If you don't see it, check the Kindle is connected to Wi-Fi, then use Sync in the menu. On some Kindles books you've sent yourself are grouped under Documents.
The book keeps growing, so every few months you might like to download it again from your welcome page and send the new edition the same way.
